Newspapers
Welcome to the Newspapers category. This section is for newspaper clippings, articles, headlines, advertisements, public notices, obituaries, and other printed material connected to SAPD history. Newspaper sources are often one of the best ways to place officers, incidents, buildings, and events into a specific time and public context.
When posting a newspaper item, please include the newspaper name, date, page number, and source if known. If the clipping came from the SAPDHA archive or database, include the image number, record link, or any identifying information that will help others locate it later. Transcriptions are also welcome, especially for older or difficult-to-read scans.
Please keep in mind that newspapers can contain errors, outdated language, incomplete reporting, and the bias of their time. They are valuable historical sources, but they should be treated as evidence to be compared with other records whenever possible. Corrections, added context, and alternate sources are encouraged.
